A individual charged with stalking Kate McCann allegedly recorded her a voicemail message which questioned: "what if I am Madeleine?"

The defendant, 24, who court testimony revealed has persistently asserted she was the disappeared Madeleine McCann, and her co-defendant are standing trial accused with stalking Kate and Gerry McCann from June 2022 and February 2025.

On Monday, the court heard communication data and evidence recovered from phones logged Ms Wandelt consistently demanding Madeleine's mother for a DNA test during 2023 and 2024.

Madeleine's case in 2007 - at the age of three during a vacation in Portugal - is among the most widely reported missing child cases and is still open.

'I Do Not Need Money'

One recorded message, played in court, documented Ms Wandelt saying: "I understand I'm overweight and plain like Madeleine had been, but I believe what I know."

While one recording of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's voicemail said: "Imagine there is a slight possibility that I'm her? Then what? Wouldn't that be important for you?"

"I am not seeking money, I possess a living here in Poland, I just want to know," the message continued.

The panel was informed that by means of emails, SMS messages and calls, Ms Wandelt requested a DNA test, transmitted early photographs to her phone in a attempt to display a likeness to Mrs McCann's missing daughter, and stated to have "flashbacks" from a youth with the McCanns.

Robert Jones, an intelligence analyst with the police force who gathered the data, told the court there "showed no any responses" from Mrs McCann.

Call logs showed Mrs Spragg had reached out through WhatsApp to Mrs McCann to say the news outlets had depicted Ms Wandelt as "emotionally disturbed" but that she ought to be treated respectfully in the time leading up to the trip to the village, that area, in December 2024.
