Arne Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it was expected for concerns to be raised about his position after another heavy defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their 9th defeat in 12 games, representing the team's poorest run after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I have got a lot of backing from the top,” the coach commented.

“It would be great to turn it around and secure a win naturally but when you're coaching a team and struggling then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He added, “I accept my role. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his dialogues with the team officials, the head coach explained:

“We communicate frequently. They assist to the team and for me and those talks happen but they don't phone me every single minute each day to say they trust me.”

He added, “During our regular exchanges I perceive the trust. But I haven’t spoken to them after this game yet so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Issues and Player Reaction

Slot highlighted recurring failings from his squad in their European loss, namely poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder stated.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the phrases.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the side I follow. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool all my life.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a spell such as this with performances this poor.”

Jones stated, “But we still have the crest on our chest. And until that badge is removed, we’re always going to fight.”

“Our aim is to help the side back to its rightful place, show everyone again what this club is about and why people call it the top club in the world.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
