Both Deceased Students Identified in Brown University Incident as Law Enforcement Press On With Search for Perpetrator.

Both young individuals who lost their lives in Saturday’s tragic incident on the university campus were honored at the start of the week – amid a widespread hunt for their shooter persisted following the discharge by local law enforcement of the only individual of interest in the case.

Tributes for Ella Cook

Ella Cook, a sophomore from Alabama, was called “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, according to the Advent Cathedral in Birmingham, which honored her memory at a ceremony on Sunday.

Cook was second-in-command of Brown’s branch of the campus GOP group, the group said. Karoline Leavitt also shared condolences publicly, saying in part: “It's indescribable. Keeping in mind her loved ones and companions, above all her mom and dad.”

MukhammadAziz Umurzokov

The other person killed was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, from Uzbekistan in his first year of studies at the Ivy League university, family members said.

His name was verified by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. His ambitions were lofty of entering the field of neurosurgery and helping people,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a memorial statement.

Details of the Attack

Nine other people were wounded in the weekend shooting in the engineering department of Brown’s university in Providence, during the institution's end-of-term tests.

Law enforcement reported by the end of Sunday that a 24-year-old male arrested in a police operation at a hotel about approximately 17 miles from the campus earlier in the day was being released.

“We have a murderer out there,” stated the state's top prosecutor, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you have to regroup and head another way, and that’s exactly what has happened over the last day or so.”

Community Anxiety

Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, noted: “We know that this is likely to cause fresh anxiety for our community”.

The assailant opened fire inside a lecture hall in the engineering building on Saturday, discharging in excess of 40 shots from a handgun, a law enforcement official informed the news agency.

Law enforcement that entered the inn seized a pair of pistols and two loaded 30-round magazines when the individual was detained, according to reports.

The Wounded Victims

Regarding the nine injured, a single scholar was allowed to go home, stated the university president, Christina Paxson. Seven others were in critical but stable condition, and one remained in critical care, officials reported on Sunday.
