Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Player the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night stating they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and had been in contact with the league office.

The organization omitted the name of Rice by name in their announcement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Instagram

The woman, who likewise did not name Rice by name, posted a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Currently Not on File

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Legal Issues

Rice missed the initial part of this season due to an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people injured. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

On the field, he finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
