Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Warriors Party

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a diverse cast of personalities, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, demons, and malevolent powers expanding in power within the urban setting.

Note: Revealing details for the third episode of the new season are included.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

The third episode finished on a huge suspense moment and introduced the initial group of adventurers who will branch out from the main group to embark on their own adventure, apart from the remaining groups.

The combat-focused team includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

The Reason for Division

With an extensive roster, it was evident from the start that keeping everyone at a single group would be unworkable.

This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, weaving together the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Planners, and Explorers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

According to the DM, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a traditionally charged battle-oriented narrative style where peaceful solutions are few and far between.

Initially, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might look out of place, but the developments of the third episode make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Motivations for Departure

To begin with, the team understands precisely where to head next after a violent first encounter with the antagonists.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing started the campaign’s events—manipulated the foes for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and swiping all the enchanted items to auction.

The traitor then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Cyd pursuing him.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each member has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as the close ally and trusted friend, wants retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous place.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
  • Yet, their position as important members in the influential clan could help the group access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Moreover, Teor pledged a eternal obligation to The savior for his salvation and will now follow him wherever.

Fugitives

In addition, all of them are sought by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:

  • Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and The healer betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
  • Teor is marked for death by the clan.

This leaves them no alternative but to head to the northern region in search of the traitor.

Future Episodes

Based on episode three’s Cooldown, we find out that the combat party will not appear next week, leaving the other eight participants to form the Questers and Schemers parties.

Fans can look forward to discovering which characters will be assigned to which table in the story’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on October 24.
