Spurs Manager Frank Calls Vicario Critics 'Not Real Fans'

Fulham Begin Powerfully to Beat Tottenham and Increase Tension on Frank

Tottenham Hotspur fans who jeered goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario were informed later "those individuals cannot be real Spurs supporters" by manager Frank.

Spurs let in a pair of scores in the opening initial moments to lose 2-1 to their opponents, marking their 10th top-flight home loss of the year.

However the main talking point was the visitors' second score when Vicario gave away possession far beyond his box.

The goalkeeper came out to deal with a high pass and carried the ball near the touchline.

However, rather than booting it into touch, the Italian turned and attempted to clear, but lost his footing as the ball glanced off Harry Wilson and was controlled by King.

King passed the ball off to Wales midfielder Harry Wilson, who curled a strike into the net from the sideline measured at 36.6 yards.

Moments later when the ball came to Vicario once more, some Spurs fans booed him.

Spurs were booed off at half-time, with the side 2-0 behind, and once more at the final whistle.

A particular of those booing episodes really irritated Frank.

"I heard a few of our supporters reportedly jeered the incident and booed following, which, in my opinion is totally unacceptable," the Dane commented regarding the supporters' response to his shot-stopper.

"Those individuals cannot be true Tottenham supporters that act that way. Alright jeering after the game, no problem, but when we are playing, we are supporting each other, we are with each other going forward."

Kenny Tete had given Fulham a fourth-minute lead prior to Harry Wilson's goal – with Mohammed Kudus scoring for Tottenham in an better second period performance.

Ex- top-flight goalkeeper Hart stated that the next score was "totally avoidable".

"I certainly appreciate the supporters' disappointment," the ex-keeper added. "I am aware the part Vicario is playing. He's a excellent squad member, he's a real figure in the dressing room but ultimately you are going to be judged by your actions.

"The keeper was deeply implicated in what ended up to be the decisive score."

'It's In the Game, I Can Handle It'

Thomas Frank Defended His Goalkeeper Vicario After the Game

Italy international Vicario is in his third season with Spurs.

He said following the match that he had to take the feedback.

"The second goal was a mistake of mine, I take accountability for it," he commented.

"The intent was to clear the ball long and I simply hit the ball in a poor manner. It was an even bigger challenge to climb."

He said being booed "is part of the game".

"I'm a big man, how can I respond?" he continued. "The team can't be affected by the circumstances in the crowd. Supporters have the right to do what they think.

"It is on us to remain more calm, to concentrate on our own performance. We are lacking in composure and poise to overturn outcomes. This match is a bad loss and it is hard to accept."

'It Shocked Me Nobody Returned to the Line'

In spite of Vicario's mistake, it was far from an simple goal for Harry Wilson to score.

Actually it was the second most distant Premier League score of the campaign – following Adams' 43.3 yard strike for Bournemouth against Sunderland, which incidentally also came on the same day.

The goalscorer said he was "a little bit surprised" that he still had an open net to aim for.

Ten seconds passed between the keeper coming out of his area and Wilson shooting – which was 5 seconds following the clearance.

"I felt like the keeper was away from the box for ages," Wilson remarked.

"It amazed me none of the defenders went back to the line. When none of them covered the goal, my eyes lit up somewhat.

"[Destiny] Udogie fell as well, which gave me a bit of additional opportunity. Then it was all about trying to achieve the correct connection and get it on target. I felt a good feeling, as soon as it came off my boot, that it was heading in."

'During in a Poor Run, All Appears to Go Against You'

Jeering Whilst We Are Still Playing Is Totally Unjustifiable - Frank

While Vicario's mistake dominated coverage, this was an all-round poor performance for Tottenham to continue their home struggles.

The match was their tenth at home defeat of the year in the league, a shared team statistic matching nineteen ninety-four and two thousand and three.

They still have home fixtures against the manager's old side the Bees and title holders Liverpool to play prior to the close of the year.

Only one of those wins have occurred since the manager replaced Ange Postecoglou in the off-season.

"If you are down 2-0 following the opening, there is a huge challenge to climb," stated the boss.

"When you're in a poor run, everything appears to go against you as well – the opening was a redirected shot, the next is a error from the keeper.

"The outcome puts us in a place where we have lost another match. Every game has a unique story, this game we were defeated in the early stages.

"We just need to keep working. The later period was significantly improved and with luck something we can use to learn."

Tottenham have been defeated in 4 consecutive home capital clashes for the initial time in the top division.

Furthermore they are averaging nine point five attempts and three point two shots on target per match in the Premier League – their lowest rates on file in a one campaign (dating back to the 2003-04 season).

Ex- Fulham midfielder Murphy commented that Frank has to ride the storm.

"He must accept the stick," the pundit said. "He's taken a high profile role at a huge team with enormous anticipation. There is pressure and duty that accompanies that.

"Their showings at their stadium have been disappointing and they have to get better {quickly|
