Exactly 30 anniversary since the original Toy Story movie debuted, establishing Pixar as a major animation studio and bringing audiences to beloved characters like Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed this week, offering a brief look into the storyline but keeping viewers curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys

The preview reveals the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a brand new toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie gets her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.

Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is returned with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a carnival and helping prize toys locate loving owners.

Surely, the filmmakers will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with him. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?

Connections from the Previous Film

At the very least, some elements are continuing from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the badge attached to her outfit.

Hopefully she is still the key figure among the group.
